School Centenary 2012 ‘Expression of Interest’

A little bit of history…

Motumaoho began as a communications link between Morrinsville and Hamilton. The Motumaoho Cheese Factory was opened in 1914 and continued to be operational until its closure in 1983.

A one roomed school was built on the site in 1912 and with later additions was in use until 1969, when it was demolished after being replaced by a modern school complex complete with small library and staff-room transported to Motumaoho from Ohautira.

The latter complex forms most of the existing school today, with the addition of the present library (a former Post Office) and in recent times, the new deck in front of the school.

Our present school is an important part of the Motumaoho District, and is a contributing school which caters for Year 0 (New Entrants) up to Year 6.
